OpenRent does not charge tenants any admin/agency fees. We also have a strict no admin fees policy for our landlords as well. That means that we won't charge you unnecessary fees, and neither will the landlords you meet on our site.
What about Referencing?
We allow landlords to pass on up to £20 per person for referencing if they request this service, but they can't charge any fees beyond this. £20 is the most any OpenRent tenant would have to pay when applying to a property.
The average letting agent charges tenants £317 each in fees - £85 of which comes from referencing - so you'll save hundreds using OpenRent!
Wait! What about the Tenant Fee Ban?
In November, the Department of Communities & Local Government published a Draft Bill with plans to ban all tenant fees. We will of course make sure that we comply with any new legislation coming into force if and when the Bill is enacted.
No matter what happens with the tenant fee ban, you can trust us to remain the leaders of openness, transparency and innovation in the UK lettings market.
