Do I need one every year? Even if my tenancy hasn't changed?
Yes. It is against the law to rent your property without a current gas safety certificate.
As well as carrying out a gas safety certificate every year, you must provide a copy of an in-date report to your current (and new) tenants.
If you do not conduct or supply your tenants with an in-date gas safety certificate, you can be fined or sent to prison for not complying with the minimum gas safety regulations that apply to rented property in the UK.
Can OpenRent provide my gas safety certificate every year?
Yes we can. Just click here. You'll get:
- a gas safety certificate by a Gas Safe engineer at a time that suits you
- an electronic copy you can use to easily show tenants, as per your legal requirements
- a yearly reminder so you can remain compliant with the law
You can view and download a copy of your current gas safety by logging in to your account and heading to 'Property Services', then 'Gas Safety'.
