In Rent Now, you can add a guarantor to the contract from your dashboard throughout the process. All you need is the guarantor's name, email address and phone number. Below you'll find specific guidance depending on which stage in the process you're at.
Before Contract Signing
When an applicant places a holding deposit (or makes an application if the property is in Scotland) they will have the option to add a guarantor. When you are reviewing the application or carrying out referencing on the applicants you will have the option to "Add or Request a Guarantor".
Adding a guarantor will require you to have the guarantor's name and contact information.
Requesting a guarantor will ask the applicant to provide this information.
During Contract Signing
When the contract is being signed, a guarantor can still be added. Just press "Edit Contract" and then "Add Guarantor". You can then press "Update Contract" at the bottom of the page to save the changes.
Any parties who have already signed the contract will have to do so again.
After Contract Signing - Before Move In Date
If you need to add a guarantor to the contract once all parties have signed, you will have to propose an amendment to the contract. Once the tenant(s) accept the proposed changes, you'll be able to follow the same instructions in the above section to add a guarantor. Again, where the contract changes, all parties will need to sign it again.
After Move In Date
If the tenancy has already started and you or the tenants wish to add in a guarantor, this can be done by completing a renewal. We have a specific guide on this process here.
In every case, you just need follow the links from your dashboard to navigate to the relevant tenancy or application.
We would recommend that all applicants and guarantors are referenced. For more information on guarantors and referencing, see our Referencing section.
