If you paid a deposit at the start of your tenancy, your landlord should have protected it with one of three government approved schemes:
On OpenRent we also offer a Deposit Replacement Scheme:
Your tenancy contract should make it clear which scheme was used to protect your deposit. If you used our Rent Now service to set up your tenancy you can check your contract here. Each of the schemes also lets you check if they have protected your deposit - just click the name of one of the schemes above to check if they have your deposit.
How to Initiate the Deposit Repayment
The quickest way to get your deposit back is to speak to your landlord and ask them to start the deposit repayment process.
If you're unable to reach the landlord or it is the landlord's preference, you can request repayment directly from the scheme yourself. Again, just click the name of the scheme above to start.
If your tenancy was set up using our Rent Now service, you can prompt the landlord to end your tenancy and begin the repayment process by selecting your tenancy here and using the blue button in the "End your tenancy" section.
