Sometimes the portals will ask for proof of ownership for a property to ensure you are the owner or have the owner's permission to advertise a property.
Specifically, acceptable documentation to show you own the property is any one of the following:
- Land Registry Title
- Insurance Certificate
- Signed Letter from Solicitor (Completion Letter / Confirming Ownership)
- Mortgage Letter
Rightmove updated their terms in January 2025 to require matching photo ID (e.g. passport, driving licence) should you wish to list on that site.
You can upload this straight to your advert (it will not be visible to the public) and this can be stored on your account in case you ever need to re-advertise.

If you see a red cross ❌ next to Rightmove, you will need to select the 'Upload Now' option to provide proof of ownership for this property.
